Announcing our Series A

6.1.2021

Today we’re announcing that we have raised a $10 million Series A, led by Acrew Capital. Together with our (previously unannounced) Seed round co-led by Lux Capital and True Ventures — who both also participated in this round — we have now raised just over $15 million.

With Lux’s experience backing data/AI companies like Planet, Tecton, and Fiddler; True’s experience backing OSS companies like Puppet, Automattic, and npm, and brands like Peloton; and Acrew’s experience backing data/AI companies like Observable and Arthur, we are excited by the diversity of perspectives around our table.

From Silos to Systems

COVID-19 revealed that the way we’ve organized the world and our information — in silos — is not well suited to an age of rising complexity and interdependence. We’ve all now experienced firsthand how it limits our ability to predict outcomes, make decisions, mitigate risks, and innovate when we need it the most.

We believe it is time to evolve the way we organize data and knowledge — from silos to systems. So we created System. We are building software to help society and business make and benefit from this transformation.

Why We Picked Acrew

As a mission-driven Public Benefit Corporation, it was critical to us that we find the right partner to lead our A. We ran a rigorous and competitive selection process and ultimately picked a VC that we believe is fundamentally aligned with our mission and values and that has the depth and breadth of resources and experience to support our growth.

Of note:

  • 88% of the Acrew investing team are women or PoC and 63% are underrepresented minorities.
  • Acrew’s recently announced Diversity Capital Fund seeks to diversify the ownership and leadership of growth-stage companies, increasing representation of women and PoC leaders in IPO-bound companies.

We will use the proceeds from this round to scale our team and launch System to bring the power of systems thinking to users everywhere.
